Car Rental - Otay - Tijuana Airport Cbx Terminal(91333-01)

At time of rental, the renter must present a valid driver's licence issued from country of residence. An International Driver's Licence is suggested, but not required.

Mexican citizens are required to also present official ID such as birth certificate, voting card or passport at time of rental.

Mobile/Digital Driver License

A mobile or digital driver’s license does not replace a valid physical driver’s license and Hertz customers will still need to supply their hard copy license until further notice.

Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. BOTH the Certification and the original licence MUST be produced at the time of rental.

If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

Rentals have a grace period of 29 minutes.

Optional coverages do not have hourly charges/grace period, but are charged as a full day.

Extra hour charges will be incurred at the 30 minute mark if the vehicle is returned more than 29 minutes past the original rental time.

Third Party Liability

Basic insurance includes limited coverage on bodily injury to persons other than the driver and on property damage to anything other than the Hertz vehicle up to USD 46,000.00 per accident.

Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS)

This option increases third party cover for injury to persons other than driver and the authorised drivers and for property damage to anything other than the Hertz vehicle to a maximum of USD 450,000.00 per accident.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Collision Damage Waiver is an optional* service which, if accepted, reduces your financial liability for damage to the Hertz vehicle, its parts and accessories except for theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

*CDW may be mandatory and included in some contract or preferential rates.

If CDW is declined, you will be responsible up to the full replacement value of the vehicle. 

Regardless of whether CDW is accepted or included, all rentals are subject to a non-waivable excess for which you are responsible in the event of damage to the Hertz vehicle during the rental – see table below.

Loss Damage Waiver - LDW

LDW is an optional service which relieves you of some responsibilitly for the loss of or damage to the rental car resulting from any cause, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms of the Rental Agreement.  The deductible for accidents is 5% of the commercial value of the vehicle and 10% of the commercial value of the vehicle for theft.  A deductible of 5% of the commercial value of the vehicle will be held on a guaranteed credit card as a deposit.

If LDW is declined the renter will be responsible for the full value of the vehicle. 15% of the commercial value of the vehicle will be held on a guaranteed credit card as a deposit.

LDW cost is USD 45.00 per day, USD 315.00 per week and USD 1,350.00 per month.

Super CDW (SCDW)

If you opted for, or if your rate includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), you may also wish to purchase an additional protection, “Super CDW (SCDW)”, to waive the already limited liability in case of damage, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

Super CDW (SCDW) can only be purchased at time of pick-up for an additional amount of USD 35.00 per day, USD 245.00 per week or USD 1.050.00 per month for all vehicle groups.

Theft Protection (TP)

Theft Protection is an optional* service which, if accepted, reduces your financial liability for loss of, or damage to the Hertz vehicle due to theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

*TP may be mandatory and included in some contract or preferential rates.

If TP is declined, you will be responsible for the full replacement value of the vehicle.

Regardless of Theft Protection being accepted or included, all rentals are subject to a deductible** of 20% of the commercial value of the vehicle for which you are responsible in case of damage to, or loss of the Hertz vehicle during the rental.

**Please note: ADAC members do not have a deductible for Theft Protection if booking any ADAC prepaid rate.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

PAI is an optional coverage for any accident involving death or bodily injury during the vehicle rental covering you and your passengers. Renter and passengers are covered while entering, occupying, and leaving the Hertz vehicle. 

If you choose to rely on your credit card for cover, we strongly recommend that you fully understand the terms and conditions of any cover provided by your credit card company before you decline any of our optional services.

Corporate locations only:

Vehicles returned 30 minutes late or more are charged for an additional part or full day, depending on the time of return (this is shown on your receipt in the 'Initial Charges' section). For vehicles returned more than 12 hours late an additional charge of $12 per day, up to a maximum of 5 days ($60), will also be applied (shown in the 'Service Charges/Taxes' section).

Intercity fee is for rentals returned to a location other than the location specified in the Rental Agreement. If the rental has already started at the time the change is made, a Return Change Fee may also apply.

You must meet the minimum age restrictions, present a valid driver's license and possess an acceptable charge card in your name.

Residents of Mexico may be required to provide a valid voting I.D. CARD /Credencial de Elector/ in order to rent. Non-residents of Mexico will not be required to show any additional identification in order to rent.
