What does the young renter fee cost, and can it be waived?

Hertz charges a Young Renter fee for eligible renters under 25. The fee amount varies by rental location, so check the exact charge for your pickup location before you book. The fee applies once to the rental rather than being multiplied for every under-25 renter on the agreement. Hertz is upfront about the additional cost of renting to younger drivers, so you can see the charge rather than finding it hidden later.

The fee can be waived in certain circumstances. Eligible AAA or USAA members aged 20 to 24 renting under the applicable Corporate Discount Program (CDP) may have the Young Renter fee waived, as can renters under other qualifying CDP arrangements. AAA members can check their eligibility and the applicable rental requirements before they book.

What cars can renters under 25 book?

Being under 25 doesn't mean settling for a basic set of wheels. Hertz lets young renters choose from a wide range of car classes, from economy cars through SUVs and other eligible vehicle categories. Renters under 25 can't rent vehicles from the Dream Car Collection, Prestige Collection or Adrenaline Collection, or certain specialty vehicles.

So, whether you're heading across town or planning a bigger road trip, there's still plenty of choice. Find the right car for where you're going, then get moving.
