Birmingham, regarded as the UK’s second city, is just over 48km along the northbound M5. Picturesque Gloucester is slightly closer – around 45km south. For an extended day trip, head south down the M5 and you’ll arrive in Bristolin just over an hour.

Despite the A38 running through it, much of Worcester city centre is pedestrianised, and between 10:30am and 4:30pm central roads are closed to vehicles. But you can leave your hire car in one of the many car parks to explore on foot.

Charges in council-owned car parks vary. Many of these are multi-storey, like St Martins Gate – which has more than 700 spaces and is a short walk from the centre.

On-street short stay parking can also be found in areas such as Silver Street, Severn Street and at the College Precincts. The maximum stay in these bays is generally 90 minutes.

However, there are stretches of the M5 and other motorways that are 50mph (80km/h). Always check signs in case of any changes.
