Meet the Driver: David Beckmann

David Beckmann is a German race driver who’s competed in Formula 4, Formula 3, GP3 Series and Formula 2. He also appeared in Formula E as a test driver. Beckmann joins Hertz Team Jota in the 2023 World Endurance Championship. Read on to find out more about him.

 

Early life and background

Born in Iserlohn in the northwest of Germany on April 27th, 2000, David had a keen passion for motorsports growing up. Karting was his first love and he competed on the kart circuit from 2008 to 2014.

David had notable successes in his early years. These included winning the DMV Landesmeisterschaft — Bambini B in 2009 and then winning the 2014 German Karting Championship (junior category).

Journey in the World Endurance Championship

This is David’s inaugural year in the World Endurance Championship. So far, he’s been highly impressive in the first two races of the season. In the first race at Sebring, USA, he finished 1st. This was followed up with a 5th place at Portimão, Portugal. The whole of Hertz Team JOTA are incredibly proud and excited for what is to come in the rest of the season.

 

Off-track interests

David’s father inspired him to take up karting and actually bought him his first go-kart in 2008. Their close relationship has been a contributing factor to David’s success.

David is involved in a fundraising initiative called ‘Drive for Good’. He also has endorsement deals with brands such as Grohe, Puma and Infinity.
