What do I need to know?

  • What are the major changes in 2014 to the Employee/Family & Friends Rental Discount Program?
    1. Employees, their family and friends no longer use CDP (Corporate Discount Program) numbers to access discounts on Hertz rentals.
    2. Participants are required to sign up as a Gold Plus Rewards member on hertz.com, which is free.
    3. Employees can add themselves, and up to nine additional members to their personal Hertz Employee Rental Discount Plan. Members can include a spouse or domestic partner and additional family members or friends.
    4. The Employee Rental Discount System is where employees add themselves and their Hertz Discount Plan members. That system talks to the Gold Plus Rewards system and automatically assigns the discounted rate upon the reservation!
    5. Employees control who is in their Hertz Discount Plan.
    6. All members in the employee’s Discount Plan will receive the benefit – mother, father, brother, distant cousin, friend, neighbour, whomever – you decide!
  • What do I have to do first?
    • You will have to be a Gold Plus Rewards member to receive the employee discount. You can also have your family and friends enrol in Gold Plus Rewards anytime.
    • Follow the instructions in the How Does It Work section to add yourself and your family/friends to the Hertz Employee Rental Discount Plan.
  • Is the discount the same whether for an employee, family member or friend in my Discount Plan?
    Yes. The new discount plan will deliver the same benefits for employees and all members listed within their plan.
  • What is the discount/benefit that I will receive when renting under this new programme?
    When renting in Corporate European destinations you will receive a rental discount of 30% (off the base rental charge). This applies to all vehicle types including the 'Collections' vehicles (except the Dream Collection & Hertz Super cars).

    In addition to the rental discount (when renting in Corporate Europe only) you will also benefit from:

    • Free Additional Driver
    • Free Young Driver Surcharge
    • 50% off Super Cover purchase
    • 50% off Personal Insurance purchase
    • 50% off Neverlost rentals
    • 50% off Child Seat, Infant seat and Booster Seat rentals

    You will also receive a rental discount of 30% when renting in the USA, Canada, LAMC, Australia and New Zealand!
  • Does this apply to CCL, Dollar Thrifty and Firefly employees?
    Yes. CCL, Dollar Thrifty and Firefly employees are able to participate in the new Discount Plan for Hertz car rentals the same way Hertz employees do.
  • Does this apply to Hertz rentals only? What about discounts currently on Dollar Thrifty rentals received by those employees?
    Until the DTG Integration of systems is fully completed, Hertz/CCL/Firefly employees will not receive discounts on Dollar or Thrifty rentals. Dollar Thrifty employees will still receive discounts on DTG rentals as per current procedures.

  • What about an existing rental benefit I get?
    If you currently receive rental benefits as part of a collective agreement for your country, this programme will not be affected. All other staff CDP’s will be phased out over 2015.

  • What about reservations I have already made with the old programme?
    We will cease taking new bookings on the old CDP’s. Your bookings will still be valid – but we would suggest getting a quote under the new programme as you will probably find a better price.

  • Do HERC employees get to utilize the Employee Rental Discount Plan?
    HERC employees can sign up for the Employee Discount Plan. Should any changes be made to the Hertz car rental discounts for HERC employees as the separation of HERC into a standalone company moves forward, HERC employees will be communicated to with specific details.

  • Does this discount plan apply to employees outside Europe or in our Franchisee Countries?
    Currently the new Rental Discount Plan and process is only available to Corporate European employees & is not available for use by Franchise or other employees within EMEA. Employees based in North America & Canada however have a similar employee discount plan in place.

  • Does this discount plan apply to Agency/Franchisee employees in Europe Corporate countries?
    Yes, if they have access to Hertz IT systems as a non-hertz employee. In this case the non-hertz employee number will be used instead of the Oracle employee number. Please e-mail the Employee Care Centre for your country for assistance.

 
Gold Plus Rewards Membership

  • Are there any other restrictions that I should know about?
    • Gold Plus Rewards membership does require a credit card to sign up online. Debit cards are not accepted.
    • Gold plus Rewards membership also requires you to hold a driving licence.
  • What should I do if I don’t meet these requirements?
    Contact the Employee Care Centre for your country, who will set you up. Please note that this access will only allow you to access the Employee Staff Discount System, so you can add your family and friends.

    YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RENT A CAR YOURSELF WITH A DEBIT CARD.
  • When I sign up for Gold Plus Rewards, it has a space to enter a CDP number. Do I need to do that?
    No, leave that blank if you are signing up as a new member. The current CDP numbers are not allowed to be added for new member Gold Plus Rewards profiles. Once you have entered your name in the Employee Rental Discount System as well, the discount will be linked automatically to your Gold Plus Rewards profile for your future rental reservations. The same will apply to your friends and family once they are part of your Discount Plan.
  • I am already a Gold Plus Rewards member, do I have to re-enroll?
    No. If you are already a member in Gold Plus Rewards, you can simply enter yourself into the Hertz Employee Rental Discount Plan to activate the discount.
  • My family member or friend who I want in my personal Discount Plan is already a Gold Plus Rewards member, do they have to re-enrol?
    No. If they are already a member in Gold Plus Rewards, simply login to the Employee Rental Discount Plan and then add them as a new family or friend. You will need their name and Gold Plus Rewards number to activate the discount.
  • My family member or friend already has another CDP number in their Gold Plus Rewards profile for business rentals with his/her company. How will it distinguish the Hertz employee discount for leisure rentals?
    Once you have added that family or friend into your personal Employee Rental Discount Plan, they will see the CDP name 'HERTZ EUROPE FAMILY FRIEND' for the family/friend discount.
  • Do employees/ family or friends in my Discount Plan receive Gold Plus reward points or frequent traveller rewards when using the Hertz discount?
    No. Gold Plus Reward points for rentals using the employee/family and friends discounts will not be awarded. The deep discount provided on these rentals constitutes the reward provided. In addition, for rentals using the Hertz employee, family/friends discount, frequent travel award points for airlines and hotels will not be awarded.
  • How will I know that I have the discount applied in my Gold Plus Rewards membership profile?
    On hertz.com, after you log in to your account as a Gold Plus Rewards member, on the reservation screen you will see a drop down menu to choose. For Staff - 'HERTZ EUROPE STAFF' . For friends: 'HERTZ EUROPE FAMILY FRIEND'

 

 

Entering your Personal Discount Plan members

  • Who is considered a “family member”?
    Previously, this discount was available only to immediate family members. Now, the Discount Plan can be offered to extended family members and friends as well. You get to decide which of your family members may get the most use from the discount plan, within your allotted members.
  • How many Family/Friends can I have as members?
    You can add yourself, which counts as one, and an additional nine members, for a maximum of 10 total members. Everyone in your Hertz Discount Plan must also be a member of Gold Plus Rewards.
  • What if I want to add or remove a member of my plan?
    In the Employee Rental Discount System, you have the ability to add up to nine family and friends members. You just need to enter their name and Gold Plus Rewards. member number. If you need to remove a friend or family member you can easily do that as well in the Employee Rental Discount System. Note if you remove someone it will remove the discount for any existing reservations for the future.
  • What if I have more than 10 members I want to receive the discount?
    This is the maximum number that Hertz will allow at any specific time. If you need to add someone else to your Discount Plan, you can remove another member who may not be utilizing the rental discount in the near future.
  • When will newly hired employees be able to sign up for the Employee Discount Plan?
    Yes. As the HR system is updated and an employee is no longer active, they will be removed from receiving the Discount Plan, along with their family and friends. The employee and family/friend members will not however, be removed as a Gold Plus Rewards member for any future rentals with Hertz, they will simply no longer receive the 30% discount. The Gold Plus Reward member profile will not be removed, but the discount will no longer be available when you log in to hertz.com as a Gold Plus Rewards member.
  • I can’t remember my employee number to log into the Employee Rental Discount System?
    You can locate it on your payslip or contract, or by emailing the Employee Care Centre.
  • My surname in my Gold profile and Oracle don’t match, what should I do?
    Contact the employee Care Centre who can confirm the name on your Oracle record. You will then need to get your name corrected in either your Gold profile, or in Oracle.
  • Will employees who are no longer employed with Hertz automatically be removed from the discount plan?
    Yes. As the HR system is updated and an employee is no longer active, they will be removed from receiving the Discount Plan, along with their family and friends. The employee and family/friend members will not however, be removed as a Gold Plus Rewards member for any future rentals with Hertz, they will simply no longer receive the 30% discount. The Gold Plus Reward member profile will not be removed, but the discount will no longer be available when you log in to hertz.com as a Gold Plus Rewards member.

 

 

Other Questions about Receiving the Discount

  • Can my family/friend book a car with the discount the same day I add them into my Discount Plan?
    Because several systems have to synchronize data, we cannot guarantee a same-day discount to someone who has just been added to your personal Discount Plan, and would recommend at least 24-hours.
