Rental Qualifications and Requirements

The below applies to customers renting Hertz vehicles in Switzerland who intend to drive into Germany during their rental.

The German Ministry of the Environment has introduced Environmental Zones in certain German cities.

All vehicles entering these zones must display a sticker indicating the emission class of the vehicle.

All Hertz Germany registered vehicles carry this sticker. Although Hertz Switzerland vehicles are not automatically equipped with stickers, these are available to be purchased at all Hertz Switzerland locations.

Vehicles not displaying such a sticker may be fined € 40.00 (including tax).

This fine applies to all German licenced vehicles and also to all vehicles licenced outside Germany.
