Rental Qualifications and Requirements

Hertz vehicles cannot be driven out of Costa Rica and must be returned to an authorized Hertz location in Costa Rica.  Dropping off the vehicle at any location other than the one listed on the reservation will result in additional penalty and recovery charges. For further information, please check at time of pick-up.

All vehicles (4x4 included) must be driven on regularly maintained roads. Driving off-road, through rivers, creeks, beach and ponds is a violation of the rental agreement.

In addition, vehicles cannot be driven under the effects of alcohol or any other drugs. 

Should these restrictions be ignored, all insurances, if accepted, shall be deemed null and void. The driver will be held fully responsible in case of damage to, or loss of the vehicle and/or third party property and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.
