Rental Qualifications and Requirements

Hertz has three refueling options available to meet your needs:

1.   Fuel Purchase Option (FPO)

• Prepay the fuel in the tank at competitive local prices
• Return at any level
• NO REFUND FOR UNUSED FUEL.

2.   Fuel and Service Charge (FSC)

• If you return with less fuel than at the time of rent, and have not chosen the Fuel Purchase Option (FPO), we will service and refuel at a per gallon rate
• In some instances, in-vehicle technologies and telematics devices, including global positioning technology, may be used to confirm that the level of fuel in the vehicle is at least as much as it was when you received it.

3.   You refuel

• Return with the tank at the same level as when rented.

Hertz offers three options when it comes to recharging your EV.*

EV Purchase Option (EVPO): 
Purchase this option to pay for the amount of charge in the EV battery at time of pickup, at a rate similar to local charging stations plus a small fee. Then you can return the EV at any battery level. No refunds for the charge left in the battery at time of return.

You recharge: Pay no additional cost if you return the EV at the same battery level or within 5 % of the battery level it had at pickup — but you never have to bring it back over 75%.

EV Service Charge (EVSC): If you do not select EVPO and do not recharge the vehicle yourself, Hertz will charge you for the difference in battery level at pickup and return, at the same energy rate as EVPO but with a higher fee.
