Rental Qualifications and Requirements

Hertz vehicles can be driven within the whole national territory (Tierra del Fuego included - please see exception below).

Vehicles rented in Argentina must be returned to Argentina. Please note if this condition is ignored, a penalty charge of USD 1,000.00 may apply if vehicle is returned within 500 km from Argentinian border and USD 2,500.00 if vehicle is returned farther than 500 km from Argentinian border.

The following car groups are not allowed for border crossing in Argentina:

(B) VW Up or similar

(D) Toyota Etios or similar

(G) Toyota Yaris MT or similar

The border crossing fee is USD 65.00* to drive into Brazil, Chile and Uruguay and must be requested 72 hours in advance, by email to reservas@hertz.com.ar and must include a copy of the customer’s passport and driving license.

* For Hertz vehicles driven from El Calafate to Chile the border crossing fee is USD 190.00 (excluding tax).

Exception:

To go from Ushuaia City to the rest of Argentina, the vehicle must be driven through Chile, so a border crossing permission is needed. It must be requested exclusively by email to reservas@hertz.com.ar. The Ushuaia authorized fleet for border crossing is limited. (extra charges estimated USD 330.00 (excluding tax).

Should these restrictions be ignored all insurance, if accepted, shall be deemed null and void. The driver will be held fully responsible in case of accidents and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.
