At the time of rental the driver must present a valid driver's license which has been held for at least 1 year.
United Arab Emirates residents and customers on a resident's visa and employment visa must have a United Arab Emirates driver's license.
Customers with the following national driver's license can drive in the United Arab Emirates without an International Driving Permit (IDP): Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United States of America.
Please note that customers from Greece, Japan, Korea and Turkey must present a valid translation of their licenses approved by the Council or Embassy.
Please note: drivers licences issued in Republic of China, Japan/Korea may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz certification form. Hertz China/Japan/Korea will issue this form on hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China/Japan/Korea corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the certification form. The certification form is valid until the expiry date of the drivers licence. Both the certification and the original Licence (with an international driving permit strongly recommended by the police authorities in europe) must be produced at the time of rental.
If you hold a drivers licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original license together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at the time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.
Hong kong issued drivers licences invariably have: the driver's name and issue and expiry dates in both Chinese and English. If the English dates are present, these licences are acceptable.
All other customers must present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) together with their national driver's license at time of rental. The IDP translates the national license into various languages and is on its own, without the national license, not acceptable.
