UN-approved climate compensation via Hertz Sweden
At Hertz we are continually working to reduce our energy consumption and our impact on the climate. Among other things, by having a large percentage of fuel efficient vehicles in our car fleet and by the way we conduct our car rental business.
As an extension of our work for the environment, we now offer our customers the opportunity to benefit the same cause by offsetting the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions generated during the rental. This is done in cooperation with our partner Zero Mission. We also offer our business customers to offset the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, by adding climate compensation to the contract. Plus Hertz employees have started to benefit the environment by offsetting the carbon dioxide (CO2) generated by our business trips or when we rent cars privately.
How does it work?
The opportunity for you to choose to offset the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from your trip will be presented when you sign the lease for your rental. The different levels of emissions released by each car model are stored in the Hertz rental system. When you return your rental car we will provide you a specification of how much carbon dioxide emissions your trip has generated and what it costs to climate compensate. So you pay for the actual emission and no flate rate. The money goes to the UN-approved Gold Standard Project and Hertz has chosen to focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency. We are now participating in the Amayo wind power project in Nicaragua.
On your receipt you'll find cost and certificate number, and a link through which you can get information about the project that your money has been given to.
How much does it cost?
The cost is 0.20 SEK/ ten kilometres regardless to type of car.
