Lamborghini Gallardo Spider

After the success of the mid-engine Gallardo coupe, the specialist Italian manufacturer has introduced a glamorous soft-top version. Called the Spyder, this Lamborghini features a sophisticated electrically-powered fabric roof that takes around 20 seconds to fold into the trunk, creating a very rapid roadster indeed.

The convertible Gallardo’s four-wheel-drive and 5.2-litre V10 is the same mechanical configuration as the coupe version uses, which means that, if you hire a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, you’ll be taking the wheel of a seriously fast car. The top speed of this two-seater is just over 200mph and the 0-60mph sprint only takes around four seconds. The Gallardo’s dramatic wedge shape looks even more striking with the roof down. Expect to turn heads wherever you drive. Wisely, the car comes with an anti-theft satellite tracking system.

Like the coupe, the Spyder is surprisingly easy to drive for a 200mph supercar. The neat controls are light and responsive, and the driving position comfortable. The ride is not as bone-hard as you might expect - in fact, it’s usually rather comfortable. This is clearly a 200mph machine that is designed to be driven every day.
