A half-hour drive away from town on the WV-9, the Shenandoah River crashes together with the Potomac to form the exhilarating White Horse Rapids. Join the professionals at River Riders to race over the water for an adrenaline-fueled adventure. Rafting and tubing are the most popular activities, but River Riders also offers ziplining and biking experiences.
Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area (25411)
An overwhelming presence in the Potomac Valley, Sleepy Creek is anything but sleepy. Just shy of 23,000 acres of sprawling oak-Virginia pine wood, Sleepy Creek offers an extensive network of hiking trails, a beautiful lake and an array of wildlife like the local Pine Warbler. Sleepy Creek mountain ridge is almost 2,000 feet high and separates the vast woods and Berkeley area from the neighboring Morgan region.
