Grand Junction is a major population center in western Colorado, and is the center of Mesa County. Whether you're here for business, the beauty of nature or even to sample Colorado's wine country, here's what you can expect.
Grand Junction lacks big city problems such as traffic jams, so taking your Car Rental to the pedestrian malls, outdoor recreation stops, Dinosaur museums, or fine dining will be a cinch. Unlike the rest of Colorado, Grand Junction does not attract many tourists during the winter months, but is very busy in spring and summer, which can be rather hot. The Rocky Mountains in Grand Junction are otherwise utilized for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and river rafting. There are several outfitters in the area that can get you on a trip perfect for your thrill level.
After the leaves change color in October and the array of fruit orchards have long been harvested, only the unique Colorado wineries remain open. Grand Junction is one of the few places to find an array of dinosaur museums, fossil digs and hiking trails. Grand Junction is part of the "Dinosaur Diamond" geological area.
