Denver
The state capital is full of decorative 19th-century buildings, such as the mansion of Titanic survivor Molly Brown, and ultramodern galleries including Denver Art Museum.
This thriving metropolis is also home to several awe-inspiring natural landmarks. Visit Red Rocks Park and check out the amphitheater built into the rock face. The incredible acoustics of this open-air venue have often been put to great use by musical legends, including The Beatles.
Colorado Springs
Colorado’s second largest city is packed full of outdoor pursuits for the whole family to enjoy all year round. Head to the outdoor skating rink over the holiday season, or hike into the mountains to enjoy the breathtaking views of the unique rock formations and lush greenery of the Garden of the Gods. Make sure you visit the Kissing Camels, Siamese Twins and Pikes Peak on your hiking trail – each one is truly a sight to behold.

Idaho Springs
Nestled in the Clear Creek Canyon, Idaho Springs is surrounded by some of the best hiking trails in the state. It’s a dreamy escape in the Rocky Mountains National Park.
This historic town just off the I-70 is a convenient pit-stop on your way into Denver if you’re driving east. Take a hike through the remains of the city’s mines which were once central to the Colorado gold rush. Explore restored buildings on Miner Street or head into the wilderness to gaze at the glittering Bridal Veil Falls and the Charlie Tayler Water Wheel that sits at its base.
Durango
This small municipality, near the New Mexico border, is one of Colorado’s best-kept secrets. Here you can ride on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Railway and pass through deep green canyons and the epic valleys of the Rocky Mountains.
Don’t forget to visit the Railroad Museum – here you can admire restored trains and aircraft, or enjoy a movie in the converted baggage car movie theater.
Boulder
Resting on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder is a popular starting point for mountain expeditions – and for good reason. Hosting alpine activities all year round, Breckenridge is a great place for winter sports. Whether you prefer to ski, snowboard, or fancy something a little different like an ATV ride across some of the Rocky Mountain trails, you’ll find it all at Breckenridge.
