Olbia is a small town in the north-east of the island of Sardinia. The city is often used as a gateway to the popular Costa Smeralda area of the island which draws many tourists every year. Behind the port area are the Capo Figaro heights - a small nature reserve area that provides great views as well as a chance to simply relax and enjoy the outdoors. Hiring a car in Olbia means that you are free to travel throughout Sardinia and explore the island - the popular resort of Costa Smeralda is nearby. The resort is a green area with many white sand beaches and facilities offering golf and sailing. The destination is popular with tourists and the Olbia-Costa Smeralda airport has many international airlines which cater to the tourist trade. Olbia offers excellent access to the rest of Sardinia and is a wonderful spot to begin your trip.
