Positioned in the Swabian-speaking South West region of Germany, Stuttgart is a city said to be ‘zwischen Wald und Reben’ - famed for its location between vineyards and forests. This historic city is home to one of Germany’s most famous products, Mercedes Benz, and houses the carmaker’s popular museum today. Rent a car from Stuttgart Main Railway Station and explore the city’s multiple historic sites; the Altes Schloss is located in the city centre and dates back to the 10th century, while its younger counterpart the 17th century Neue Schloss sits nearby. The Gothic 12th century Stiftskirche is an equally eye-catching highlight of any visit to Stuttgart.
Stuttgart’s Fernsehturm is a fascinating structure; built in the 1950s it was the world’s first such installation to be made from concrete, and today provides charming views from atop Hoher Bopser Hill onto the south side of the city. Hire a car from Stuttgart Main Railway and you’re free to explore the natural landscape that surrounds the city. The mystical Schwarzwald (Black Forest) is 90 minutes away south east. This vast expanse covers 3733 square miles and is home ideal for snowsports during the winter, along with hiking in the warmer months.
