Whether you seek salsa dancing, trendy night clubs, live music, or colorful art, Miami, Florida offers an evening experience to suit any night owl.
With year-round gorgeous weather and one of the best outdoor playgrounds in the world located right within the city limits, the beach is the only place to be in Miami during the day. But when the sun goes down, the story changes with the spotlight shining on the Magic City’s epic nightlife districts, ranging from artsy bohemian to beachfront glitzy. A rundown of the top party zones in the most tropical city in America includes can’t-miss venues to satisfy every style.
South Beach
Ground zero for tourism in Miami, South Beach bustles with raucous energy every night of the week. Right across from gorgeous stretches of white sand, Ocean Drive is lined with themed dance clubs, including Mango’s, where live samba and salsa shows take place hourly, and The Clevelander, where the DJ spins poolside and bikinis serve as clubwear.
Over on Washington Avenue, Cameo has attracted crowds for decades with its massive dance floor inside a converted 1936 Art Deco movie theater. Just down the block, Score is one of the most popular LGBT discos in the nation. If you just want to chill, stop by Finnegan’s Road on Lincoln Mall, where you can sip a proper Irish pint downstairs or listen to local bands rock on the second floor.
Wynwood Arts District
A desolate, abandoned warehouse district just a decade or so ago, the Wynwood Arts District is now a pulsating nightlife hub that is home to more than 70 galleries, dozens of restaurants and bars, and the world-famous Wynwood Walls, a series of massive, colorful murals created by top international artists. Visit on the second Saturday of the month to enjoy the art walk and immerse yourself in an outdoor extravaganza of music, art, and people watching.
Miami’s special breed of hipsters and creative types flock to Wynwood almost every night to sip craft cocktails in happening lounges like Beaker & Grey and to hit the dance floor at local nightclubs like Gramps. For Latin grooves and “Dancing with the Stars” types of moves, check out the party at El Patio, where even the furniture is imported from Colombia.
Downtown Miami
Giant nightclubs that throb into the early hours of the morning are the reason Downtown Miami has earned legendary status in the global dance scene. Check out E11EVEN, which is open 24/7 and takes luxury clubbing to a new level. Party ’til dawn on the rooftop terrace of Club Space, where top DJs keep crowds on their toes every weekend.
For a low-key locale, swing by Mary Brickell Village to swig some pints at Fado Irish Pub or relax in a booth with a creative cocktail at Blue Martini. Awesome views of Biscayne Bay and the downtown Miami skyline await at MO Bar + Lounge in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The lounge hosts live Cuban jazz or Spanish guitar nightly.
Coconut Grove
A historic waterfront district with a small-town feel, Coconut Grove represents Miami in relaxed mode, where life moves on island time despite the metropolitan surroundings. CocoWalk, a pedestrian mall, dominates the neighborhood’s center and banishes the hustle and bustle of city traffic. Join the fiesta at Fat Tuesday, where New Orleans-style partying is a nightly thing, or meet new friends at Taurus Beer & Whisk(e)y House, a local landmark watering hole that is considered one of Miami’s oldest bars.
Just as famous for its booming nightlife as its beautiful beaches, Miami is a popular destination for night owls and party animals. Share your photos of your favorite Miami attractions with us on Instagram.
